Our coaching philosophy is built on the following guiding principles
1. Idea and Knowledge Sharing as the Foundation of Athlete Development
We believe that sharing knowledge and ideas is essential for athlete development. Beyond providing training instructions, we focus on teaching the underlying principles (helping athletes understand why things work), not just how to execute them.
2. Establishing a Shared Endurance Training Language
We believe that a shared DTC training language enhances communication, fostering consistency and alignment between coaches and athletes.
3. Supporting Athletes Beyond Club Sessions
While club sessions are valuable, they are just one part of an athlete’s journey. We will support our members beyond formal training sessions, recognising that development happens in many different environments.
4. Maintaining Ethical and Competency-Based Coaching
As coaches, we respect the boundaries of our expertise. While the desire to help is strong, we will always ensure that our guidance aligns with our competencies. If a situation exceeds our expertise, we will seek appropriate support rather than overstep our knowledge.
5. Coaches on a Development Journey
Coaches, like athletes, are on a continuous development journey. As a club, we are committed to supporting their growth through ongoing investment in their development.
